#HolyHack Basel 2025

Join us for the first ever #Hack in Switzerland, Basel. Let's get together for a hackathon to come up with ideas and code for our communities and the kingdom of God.

17-19 October
Kickoff: Friday 19:00 (food and snacks from 18:00)
Celebration: Saturday 20:00

Optional: Join us for fellowship, prayer, and a BBQ on Sunday until around 14:00. Afterwards, feel free to explore the city with anyone who’s still available.

Access to the venue:

  • Pickup from Euro airport or the German train station (Basel Badischer Bahnhof) available. Please request on registration and tell us your arrival time.
  • From Basel SBB, please use Tram No. 8/10 to Aeschenplatz and Bus No. 14 to Pratteln or a local train reach to Muttenz (20min walk or take Bus No. 60 to the venue)
  • Some Parking spaces are available at the venue (free) or nearby (free at night, 10.- during the day, except Sundays)

Projects

Project: Kairos Moment Tracker App (Working Title)

Kairos Tracker: Transforms fleeting spiritual Kairos moments into lasting change. It uses the Lernkreis (Reflect, Repent, Believe) structure to move you from hearing to doing (Matt 7:24). Features concrete step-setting, reminders, and an accountability share function for true, lived discipleship.

Project: Logos Hope Visitor Deck - Mini Game

Logos Hope's deck revamp will feature 1-2 min touch games. "Clean the Water!" is a pipe puzzle (3 modes) where players filter polluted water for sad children. Successful play leads to a 30s video and contactless donation prompt. #HolyHack goal: design gameplay, optimize donation, and build a POC.

Project: Python tool for 4training.net

4training.net is the international sister site of trainingfuertrainer.de. It offers copyright-free discipleship worksheets that are translated into many languages on a voluntary basis. The goal is to develop a Python script (with Mediawiki API) to simplify the translation process. The script should copy finished worksheets from the staging instance to the live instance by command and thus facilitate the work of the translators. Project scope: 2-5 hours.

Project: trainingfuertrainer.de Relaunch

trainingfuertrainer.de trains disciples of Jesus. To promote multiplication, all materials are CC0 (without copyright). The website urgently needs a relaunch: clearer design, better communication of the vision and orderability of the "Books 2.0". The aim of the HolyHack is to realise this improved homepage, including a call for cooperation/donations for the non-profit association.

Place to stay
Remember to bring a sleeping bag!
The Hackathon will be on-site. There will be space to sleep and some mattresses. Just bring your sleeping bag and a fitted sheet. If you can't come to Basel but really want to join on that weekend remotely please let us know, if there is enough interest we may stream a session on zoom and find something that works for you.
Please let us know if you can't join right from the beginning or will leave earlier. And anything else that could be interesting for us ;)
